Excess skin draping down from the thighs is frequently experienced by individuals as they age or after a drastic weight loss. This can be very awkward and uncomfortable, especially in settings where it is expected to show your legs, such as wearing shorts in the summer or at the beach. Our Toronto thigh lift is an excellent option for addressing the excess fat and skin that may be diminishing your confidence.

What is a thigh lift?

Even with weight loss and exercise, there is disproportionate depositing of soft tissue in the thigh area leaving people with undesirable contours. A thigh lift procedure, technically called a thighplasty, is a straightforward surgery that functions to remove the excess skin and soft tissue in the inner or outer thighs giving patients a smoother, more toned appearance in the their legs.

Who is a great candidate for a thigh lift?

Candidates for a thigh lift surgery are in overall good health, are not smokers or are willing to give up smoking for a designated period of time before and after surgery, and have a BMI of preferably less than 30.

They also experience one of the following:

  • Poorly toned or wrinkled skin folds in thighs
  • Excess fatty tissues in the inner thighs
  • Desire to reduce the circumference of their thighs
  • Thighs that are disproportionately larger than rest of the leg

What happens during my thigh lift?

Thigh lift is performed under general anesthesia and involves making an incision either longitudinally along the inside of the thigh or horizontally near the groin, depending on the type of procedure performed. Any excess skin and fat is removed and liposuction is utilized to create a tighter, more smooth and toned appearance.

There are two different types of thigh lift surgery, each of which provides different benefits to the patient. Before undergoing your surgery, our board-certified plastic surgeons will examine you to determine which technique and incision placement are the best option for your desired outcomes.

Although thigh lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia, it doesn't require an overnight stay in the hospital. Our staff will monitor you for a short time after the surgery and then you may return home with a follow-up appointment arranged.

You are likely to experience mild to moderate pain for a few days, which can be adequately controlled with pain medication. Mild activity may resume 2 weeks following surgery but strenuous activities should be avoided for about 6 weeks total.
